Davide Ferrari graduated in 2013 with the highest grades at the Clarinet School of M° Corrado Giuffredi at the Higher Institute of Musical Studies “O. Vecchi – A. Tonelli” in Modena, Italy.

He studied chamber music with world-wide known flute player M° Michele Marasco and has been Principal soloist clarinet of the wind orchestra of his conservatory for 12 years.
He was guest clarinet in many orchestras, wind band and chamber music ensemble of his region; participated in more than 100 live concerts, 2 Wind Orchestra CD recording, 4 International Wind Orchestra Competitions and guest choir singer. He attended 4 Wind Orchestra Conduction masterclasses.

Concerts, Events and Festivals

From 2008 to 2020 he has been the principal soloist clarinet of the Wind Orchestra of the Higher Institute of Musical Studies in Modena.

From March 2009 to 2013, was also principal clarinet of the wind quintet Armonia di Corte Estense directed by Michele Marasco with whom participated, among tens of other concerts, in

  • International Festival “Così fa Mozart” at the Michelangelo Hall of the Bargello National Museum in Florence
  • the concert festival “I Martedì Musicali di Villa Marigola 2011” in Lerici (IT)
  • the “Concerti della via Lattea” and “Suoni DiVini” exhibitions in Modena (IT)

He collaborated with the Orchestra and choir G. Verdi of Ostiglia in the “Mass of Requiem” by Giuseppe Verdi and airs taken from the Italian opera repertoire.

In 2013 he was second clarinet in the symphonic orchestra of the “Mozart” Royal Academy of Music in Bologna in musical productions of the eighteenth-century lyric-symphonic repertoire in collaboration with “Cubec Accademia di Belcanto Mirella Freni” and “Fondazione Emilia Romagna Teatro”.

In 2013 and 2014 he committed himself to the realization of an independent musical project on South American artistic traditions with the trio formed together with Paolo Andreoli and Giulia Baracani.

He has been a member of the H.O.T. Minds theatre company in Sassuolo with which he has acted on the musical show “Ubuntu”, taken from “The Lion King” as a bass of the stage choir in 2015 and the musical “Jesusmania – Who are you?”, based on “Jesus Christ Superstar” in the bass soloist role of Caiaphas in 2016.


Wind Orchestra

Concerts

From 2008 to 2020 he was principal soloist clarinet of the Wind Orchestra of the Higher Institute of Musical Studies of Modena.

He remained with the orchestra for 12 years, before moving to the UK for his PhD at King’s College London in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

During those 12 years he participated in tens of concerts every year leading the clarinets section of the ensemble.

He was principal clarinet in the 2 CD recording with the world renewed soloists, trumpeter M° Marco Pierobon in “The Maestro” in 2017 and clarinetist M° Corrado Giuffredi in “Clarinettomania” in 2018.


International Competitions

He was principal clarinet of the orchestra in the international wind orchestra competitions in Riva del Garda, 5th Prize in Third Category (2009), in Fiuggi, 3rd Prize in Second Category (2011) and again in Riva del Garda, 1st Prize in First Category (2014).

In July 2013 he was invited as principal clarinet if the Filarmonica Città di Mirandola at the World Music Contest of Kerkrade (Netherlands).

Orchestra Conduction

In 2013 and 2019 he attended the Wind Orchestra Conductor Masterclass held by M° Jan van der Roost. During this event he was principal clarinet in the concerts directed by van deer Roost himself.

In 2014 he was a student at the Wind Orchestra Conductor Masterclass held by M° Massimo Bergamini.

In 2017 he attended the Wind Orchestra Conductor Masterclass held by M° Otto M. Shwarz.

Euphonia Musical Association

From 2011 to 2016 he has been co-founder and member of the board of the association “Euphonia” in Modena, born from the union of the symphonic orchestra “Marija Judina” in which he was principal clarinet and the choir “In Cordis Jubilo” in which he sang as a bass.

With the orchestra, he participated in: “Il Concerto che commosse Stalin” as second clarinet at the Teatro Storchi in Modena (2011), “I am an Opera” as the principal clarinet, performing Haydn’s Symphony 101 and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto N.5 “Emperor” (2012), New Year’s Concert held in Fiorano (2012), “Don Giovanni Trionfante” as principal clarinet in collaboration with Festival Filosofia and Emilia Romagna Teatro (2013).

Through the Euphonia Association, he also participated in numerous chamber music formations, clarinet duet and wind quartet.
